Open data

In Azerbaijan, the open data policy is not well developed and not many public authorities disseminate public information online. Existing data and information exchange between public institutions remains a “paper-based” process and is very labour intensive. The State Statistical Committee’s website is the main portal for the dissemination of statistics, including environmental statistics. The Law on Access to Environmental Information adopted in 2002 defines the main principles of access to environmental information. It regulates the obligation of public authorities involved in environmental monitoring and reporting to publish a national state of environment report once every 3 years

EU4Environment – Water and Data works to support the development of an online entry point for access to data and information on water and the environment in Azerbaijan. Its development requires reinforcing access to existing data and information, developing metadata to ease data integration, and developing means to allow feedback and contributions from citizens.
