The partner countries participating in the programme are in different status regarding cooperation with EU. Ukraine and Moldova have obtained status of candidate member states of European Union. Also Georgia has applied and is ambitious to go on with harmonization of European legislation dealing with waste management, including EU legislation on waste data reporting. Armenia and Azerbaijan identified needs of capacity building in specific areas and are interested in EPR implementation and waste data reporting. 

Target groups for this introductory workshop will be experts from Statistical Institutes and Waste Management authorities. Developing waste data reporting according to EU legislation can best be developed through a combined effort of Statistics and Environment Authorities.

• Objectives: Understanding of the EU legal framework on waste data reporting standard process
• Output: Improved understanding on the institutional and legislative framework for the waste data reporting in EU.
• Outcome: Institutional development towards harmonization of waste data management in the countries in the region with EU legislation on Waste statistic and environment legislation dealing with waste management, with follow-up in national meetings
